Day By Day Home Therapy provides the Skills2Care® program to all of its qualified clients. Skills2Care® is an evidence-based program developed by researchers at Thomas Jefferson University and is designed to help caregivers manage the day to day challenges more effectively. 

The occupational therapist certified in Skills2Care® can help:

  • Manage challenging behaviors such as:

    • Wandering​

    • Pacing

    • Refusing help or care (ex: resisting bathing, refusing help during toileting, etc.)

    • Agitation or "sundowning"

    • Anxiety

    • Repeating questions or phrases (ex: "I want to go home" or "I want my mom")

    • Hallucinations/delusions

    • Distressing beliefs/paranoia (ex: believing someone stole something or that someone is in the home)

    • Aggression (verbal and/or physical)

    • Incontinence 

    • Rummaging or hoarding

    • Sexually or socially inappropriate behaviors

  • Make the home safer

  • Reduce caregiver stress

  • Increase meaningful activity engagement 

When integrated into the patient's (individual with dementia) occupational therapy plan of care, Skills2Care® can be covered under the patient's Medicare Part B (outpatient) benefits.
